“Pre Visualization”
Pre-visualization is a technique that works extremely well for first aid. Try and imagine the “what ifs” of an emergency situation.

For instance, what if this child chokes right now? What if my husband falls down skating and cracks his knee? What if there is a drowning at the lake while I’m there? What should I do for these situations?

First, visualize possible responses and how that response would aid or harm your patient. Now, change the variables involved and re-think your response. The mental practice will serve you well in handling a real situation.

Try it next time you’re on a long drive and get the family involved in the conversation.
